Christmas at Concord United
Christmas at Concord United
Welcome to Christmas at Concord United
Christmas is a season of hope, love, and transformation — a time when everything can change. The birth of Jesus wasn’t just a moment in history; it was the moment that changed history forever. His coming brought light into darkness and joy into weary hearts, offering each of us a new beginning.
This Christmas, we invite you to discover the difference Christ makes — in our world and in our lives. Through the timeless story of A Christmas Carol, we’ll walk with Ebenezer Scrooge as he learns what it means to open his heart, find joy, and embrace love that lasts.
Join us as we celebrate the true meaning of Christmas, reflect on God’s love, and prepare our hearts to welcome Christ today.
You’re welcome here — just as you are.
Discover the Difference Christ makes in our world and in our lives.

Sermon Series
The birth of Christ is the hinge of history, a turning point so profound that our sense of time is divided between before and after His birth. The coming of Christ into our lives is the turning point between a life based on self-centered needs and a life based on love and joy. In his famous A Christmas Carol, Charles Dickens tells the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, who, through his visions of Christmas Past, Present, and Future, is able to see clearly the difference Christ makes, and is given the chance to choose Christ before it is too late. By joining Scrooge in remembering God’s work in our world and in our lives, and the ways we have turned toward and away from God in the past, we prepare ourselves to receive Christ as He comes to us today.
November 30 - Bah Humbug: Remembering Life Before Christ
December 7 - Christmas Past: Wise Men & a Wise Woman
December 14 - Christmas Present: Joy to the World
December 21 - Christmas Future: Choosing Life
Bible Studies and Groups
One way to engage with God this Advent season is through a study of Matt Rawle’s book, The Redemption of Scrooge. This resource parallels Concord’s sermon series content. Along with Ebenezer Scrooge, we meet the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future and in the process learn about living with and for others in a world blessed by Jesus. Rediscover and reinvigorate your Christian faith this Advent and Christmas season and look at this familiar classic through the lens of faith!
Individual books are available for purchase for $10 at the Information Center located between the Worship Center and the Sanctuary. An eBook option is also available through Amazon. If you need assistance accessing this Advent resource, please contact resources@concordunited.org.
Interested in studying The Redemption of Scrooge in community with others? If you are not already participating in a group study this Advent, we encourage you to join our four-week The Redemption of Scrooge group! This short-term group will engage in discussion about the book enhanced by optional video sessions. Sunday mornings (November 30, December 7, 14, 21), 10:00-10:50 in Room 243 above the Worship Center. Click here to save your spot: The Redemption of Scrooge Group Study
Bible Reading Plan
Concord’s Advent Bible Reading Plan provides a supportive way to connect with God’s word through Bible readings every Monday through Saturday beginning the first week of Advent on December 1st. Our scripture readings include the familiar words of Jesus’ birth as well as readings in both the Old Testament and New Testament.
The Bible Reading Plan can be found here: Bible Reading Plan or pick up a copy at the Information Center.
Daily Devotional & Podcast
To enrich Concord’s Bible Reading Plan, our growing team of faithful devotional writers offer Daily Devotionals, both as a daily e-mail and through our podcast, Daily Devotional with Concord United. Each devotional is designed to provide intentional space to contemplate God’s Word regularly and with very little time commitment required. We believe that seeing God through the eyes of others, especially when our writers are at different ages and stages of faith, is often as powerful as our own experiences!
For more information or to request assistance, please contact nextsteps@concordunited.org.
Prayer is the language God gives us for direct communication with Him. We invite you to connect with God through prayer this Advent season.
Prayer Guide
Concord's Prayer Guide helps you learn the language of prayer based on Jesus' example. We invite you to explore prayer in preparation for the arrival of our Savior this Advent. Click here for a digital Prayer Guide or pick up a paper copy at our Information Center.
Prayer Spaces
We offer multiple dedicated prayer spaces on our church campus for you to engage with prayer. Concord’s Chapel is available Wednesday evenings from 5:30pm-8:00pm and Sunday mornings from 9:00am-12:00pm.
Concord’s outdoor community Prayer Labyrinth, found on the northeast side of our campus, is another option for prayer that is available at any time.

ADVENT STUDY
The Redemption of Scrooge
November 30, December 7, 14, and 21
10:00AM | Room 243
To complement Concord’s sermon series this Advent, you are invited to remember God’s work in our world and in our lives through a four-week book study of The Redemption of Scrooge by Matt Rawl. Rawle dives deep into the dark, sad, greedy world of Ebenezer Scrooge and discovers a man in dire need of a second chance. Along with Scrooge, we meet the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future and in the process learn about living with and for others in a world blessed by Jesus. Rediscover and reinvigorate your Christian faith this Advent and Christmas season and look at this familiar classic through the lens of faith!

A SERVICE OF HOPE AND HEALING
Wednesday, December 17
6:35PM | Worship Center and Online
Join us for an annual service held during the holiday season to recognize that, while this time often celebrates joy and hope, it can also highlight our losses and grief. We all have a story—and that story matters. Whatever you are carrying, this is a safe space to name your pain, remember what’s been lost, surrender your story, and trust that God can still redeem all things. Join us for worship, candle lighting, and a time to let God meet us in the middle of our grief story. Come early for a free dinner served 5:30-6:20PM.
